Abebe:
Between Holding and Becoming

The Threads That Hold Us.

The Threads That Hold Us.

What Do We Carry When We Grow Up?

ABEBE is a multimedia performance exploring childhood attachment, memory, and the quiet transformations of growing up. Through silk, movement, and projected imagery, a personal relationship with a childhood comfort object unfolds into five stages of holding on, letting go, and becoming.

02 — Five Stages of Attachment

Five Stages of Attachment.

A story told through silk, movement, and memory.

A Journey Woven in Memory.

Some things we outgrow. Others grow with us.

Weaving the Invisible.

Translating memory into motion, texture, and light.

The technical development explores how digital imagery can extend the expressive possibilities of silk and movement. Through creative coding, animated textures, and projection, threadlike visuals respond to the performance's emotional progression, connecting physical materials with an imagined landscape of memory.

Each of the five stages features a uniquely coded visual effect, reflecting the shifting emotions and evolving relationship between myself and ABEBE.
